This isn’t much of a secret but still a very unique adoption story. Nicole’s biological parents were unable to take care of their young daughter and that is when their family friend and very wealthy friend, music superstar Lionel Richie stepped in.

It was meant to be temporary as Richie had offered to give the little girl a place to stay until things got better for her birth parents but a year later, she was officially Nicole Richie. As she explained to the website Yahoo.com, “My parents were friends with Lionel. They trusted that they would be better able to provide for me.”
