What follows is them fighting for their lives against an aggressive and deadly extraterrestrial species. The film was met with mixed reviews but did become a huge box office success. Writer O’Bannon swiftly replied to the criticisms surrounding the film’s originality by stating, “I didn’t steal Alien from anybody. I stole it from everybody!”
