The film wasn’t an instant success but gained a cult following, slowly. Jacob’s Ladder was initially meant to be far more disturbing, but during test screenings, an overwhelming number of audiences. I considered the film to be too unsettling. This forced the director to remove about 20 minutes of scenes from the final cut.
