Somewhere in the vast Pacific Ocean lies the ‘Forbidden Island’ of Ni’ihau. Geologically speaking, the island belongs to Hawaii’s chain of volcanic mountains. For decades now, Ni’ihai, aka Niihau’s extreme exclusivity, has been tantalizing travelers from all around the planet. The island extends for about 5 miles and is situated roughly 18 miles northwest of the famed Kauai Island.
For over 150 years, the island has been privately owned by a family, and to this day, it remains closed to the general public.
