Ronald Boyd “Ronnie” DeVoe Jr. was born in Massachusetts on 17th November 1967.
DeVoe was born to Ronald Boyd DeVoe (and Florence E. DeVoe). He grew up in a family of four and attended Newton North High School.
Shamari Fears, the vocalist in the band Blaque, married him in 2006. They welcomed their twins Roman Elijah III (the father) and Ronald III (the mother).
Career
DeVoe’s professional career began in 1980 when he joined New Edition (R&B/pop). His self-titled debut album was released by him and his band in 1984. It featured the hit song “Cool It Now”.
DeVoe released his fourth studio album, ‘Under The Blue Moon’ in 1986 with his bandmates. This album eventually went to gold. Two years later, DeVoe and his bandmates released the album Heart Break’. This album featured the songs “If It Isn’t Love”, You’re Not My Kind of Girl”, and “Can You Stand to the Rain”.
Their debut album ‘Poison,’ which had five hits including “Poison”, and “B.B.D.” sold more than 5 million copies. The group released their second album, “Hootie Mack”, in 1993.
Three years later, the singer and original members of New Edition released their album “Home Again”, which was a success. It also spawned the hit singles “Hit Me Off”, “I’m Still Loving with You” and “I’m Still… in Love With You”.
DeVoe, along with his band Bell Biv DeVoe, released their third studio record, ‘BBD’. Following this, DeVoe and his band Bell Biv DeVoe released ‘Three Stripes. Shamari, his wife, began appearing in the reality TV series “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” in 2018.
