Romeo truly behaved like a normal dog. Even though you could clearly see that he was far from domesticated, his behavior would tell you otherwise. Romeo had been interacting with the local dogs for a while and he was able to understand how they interact and play. He was able to adapt easily to their ways even if they were not the same species.

Although Romeo was now accepted in the park, he still often made a personal visit to Dakotah and Nick. Seeing all three together was a marvelous sight – a man, a dog, and a wolf out in the Alaskan wilderness. Nick knew it was a special experience to be getting along peacefully with a wild animal.
