Ancient DNA Unlocked Some Secrets on the Origins of Native Americans

The Native Americans were usually very protective of their lands. Potter met with them and explained his goals for his excavations. They agreed on the importance of tracing one’s origins and they even offered to help him and his team.

The excavation site was a forested area about 50 miles away from Fairbanks. Because of its remoteness and difficult terrain, it could only be reached by helicopter. The team had to set camp there since they could not afford to go in and out by chopper all the time.
