The first remains
It was in 2010 when Potter and other researchers from the University of Alaska discovered a skeleton at the excavation site. The remains belonged to a three-year-old child. They believed the remains were approximately 11,500 years old, making it an exceptional find.

However, they could not extract DNA from the remains because it was not well-preserved. They could not even determine the gender of the child from the remains. Although it was a great find, it did not help their goal.
