Conspiracy Theories Resurface After Buzz Aldrin Interview on Famous Apollo 10 Picture

A tragic start

The Apollo mission was created to send the first men to the moon. But it did not start on the right foot. The first team sent was Apollo 1. Apollo 1 was planned as a three-man crew setup. Unfortunately, all three men died during a practice drill in January 1967.

The practice drill was a launch rehearsal. The three crew members were Senior Pilot Ed White, Pilot Roger Chaffee, and Pilot Gus Grissom. A deadly fire took place during the practice launch and all three perished in the fire. The command module was also ruined in the process.
