Sadly, Disney didn’t live to see his dreams for Disney World realized. In fact, the first part of the park to open – the Magic Kingdom – wasn’t accessible to the public until 1971. Epcot followed 11 years later.

The release was followed by Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened in 1989 and 1998, respectively. And it’s pretty safe to say that Disney World has been a success, as the park now welcomes more visitors each year than any other holiday resort on the planet.
