She’s All That was a pretty funny film when it came out in 1999. The film was based on a bet that the popular and handsome jock could turn the geeky and unpopular girl popular. Several movies have featured this trope in one way or another through the years.

If you really think about it, though, it’s a bad trope that sends the wrong message to young and vulnerable girls. This movie, and other similar ones, are basically saying that to get the guy, girls should be willing to change how they look for him. It’s 2021, we don’t do that anymore.
