The cashier was bent on declining whatever it was that the woman wanted. Like the others in line, he leaned in to try and catch what it was they were talking about. And as it turned out, the homeless woman was not ordering food at all. She just wanted one small thing.

The homeless woman just wanted some hot water and the cashier was refusing to give it to her – which was denying the woman a basic human right. All food establishments are typically expected to offer free water to anyone who needs it and this act was violating the woman’s rights.
