William and Harry were informed shortly after that they could pick out pieces of their mother’s collection that they wanted to keep for themselves. Harry had initially taken a liking to one of Princess Diana’s sapphire rings while William took Diana’s watch. However, in the process, the brothers had switched choices, leaving William to propose to Kate Middleton using his mother’s diamond encrusted sapphire ring.
