We can all agree that one of the most iconic parts of any Royal wedding is the Royal wave afterwards. However, many are in the dark about how this tradition began! According to Royal protocol, it is supposed to be a sign of gratitude. It is a silent “thank you” to the people who have attended the ceremony outside the church.

Each Royal tends to have their own signature version of the wave. Middleton closely followed tradition and waved standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Meghan didn’t get her Royal wave on the famous balcony. However, she greeted people around Windsor by going on a long carriage ride and waving as she passed people by. She did this with a big smile on her face, as bright as the white dress she was wearing!
