Before the rest of her class would continue their journey towards college life, Natalee and her classmates planned a getaway trip to celebrate their graduation. It was going to be something very symbolic for them to do prior to moving on to the next level.

So in May of 2005, a total of 125 students of Mountain Brook High School went on a trip to Aruba for a few days of vacation. During this time, Natalee was only about 18 years old and so were her other classmates. In the trip, they also had seven chaperones to watch over the whole class.
