The Bangladesh Bank robbery was a cyber heist that happened in February of 2016. Robbers executed the scheme by sending out fraudulent requests to transfer nearly $1 billion from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Out of the thirty-five instructions sent, five of them were successfully sent to Sri Lanka and the Philippines. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York blocked the other 30 when a misspelt instruction raised suspicion. They were able to completely recover the money from Sri Lanka, but only a portion of the money sent to the Philippines was.
