Alan Jones has the distinction of being the first driver to win an F1 World Championship for Williams Racing. Jones made his F1 debut in 1975 and then joined Williams Racing in 1978. Jones is also the last Australian driver who won the Australian Grand Prix.

Jones finished 3rd during the World Drivers’ Championships in 1979. A year after, he won the Championship. This makes him the second Australian F1 driver who was able to win the F1 World Drivers’ Championship.
