One of the best ways to confirm that there’s life on Mars – or that there used to be, anyway – is to find physical remains. Something like a bone would go a long way to proving that we aren’t alone in this universe. So, you can imagine how people felt when NASA revealed the next of these bizarre images from Mars.

The shot by the space agency’s Curiosity rover in 2014 appears to reveal a thigh bone scattered amongst some dust and other debris. Was this an indication of Martian life, or perhaps even the existence of humans on the Red Planet? Unfortunately, no. It seems that this thigh bone was actually just a rock shaped by erosion.
