Odysseus, also known as Ulysses, is a legendary Greek warrior king of Ithaca. He is the central hero of Homer’s epic poems, the Odyssey and the Iliad. Although we know that Homer’s works are fiction, some scholars believe that Odysseus is real.

This was especially so when a group of Greek archaeologists found what they believed was an 8th century BC palace on Ithaca. The excavations were made in Aghios Athanassios. For now, though, no concrete evidence that Odysseus is real has been presented.
