In 2019, the American state of Maine set up a scheme with the intention of encouraging young adults to move there. The Department of Administrative and Financial Services offers a tax break and a reduction on student loans. According to CNBC, it is called the Educational Opportunity Tax Credit.

This tax credit has been in existence since 2016, but this was only for in-state college graduates. It is now also being offered to out-of-state graduates. There are, however, some caveats. The credit is dependent on when you graduated and what degree you received. If you’re lucky, you might wangle $377 off per month.
