The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (or MIT) is another University where many famous names have attended. It is quite impressive that MIT hosted 27 Nobel Prize Winners as well as nearly 50 Rhodes Scholars. Edwin Eugene Aldrin received his Sc.D. The university awarded him a degree in astronautics in 1963. Six years later, he was known as Buzz Aldrin – one of two men who stepped foot on the moon.

The school must be proud. It is rare for universities to boast that one of their students has been on the moon. Paul Krugman and U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan are two other notable MIT alumni. Harvard may not be the only highly regarded school in Cambridge.
