His parents moved from Paisley Terrace, South Australia, to Adelaide in 1954. His father accepted a position as a Durham University lecturer and the family moved to Durham, England. Blair’s 5th birthday marked the beginning of a long relationship with Durham.
Career
Blair led Labour to a landslide victory in the 1997 general elections, winning 418 seats. This was the highest number of seats ever won by the party. Tony Blair was the youngest Prime Minister since Lord Liverpool in 1912.
He was also appointed Envoy to the Quartet on the Middle East. Blair founded his Tony Blair Faith Foundation in 2008.
He was a student at St. John’s College, Oxford University before he became famous. Blair was the lead singer in a band called The Ugly Rumors. They performed covers of songs by The Rolling Stones.
