Now you would expect this clothing retailer to be all-American as their name claims. American Apparel started out in Los Angeles, California, and is known for its slogan, “Made in the USA – Sweatshop Free.”

But the company had a financial crisis in 2015 and had been struggling ever since. Canadian company Gildan Activewear actually saved the company from closing down when they bought American Apparel for $88 million.
